In the Traits list, if you see that a certain animal activity encourages a trait, then your Sim can generally use the praise interaction to help that trait develop faster. When your Sim scolds or praises the animal, it can get another boost encouraging or discouraging that trait development. This will show you either a positive or negative reaction, meaning the trait is either developing or going away. Whenever a pet performs certain interactions, a trait icon will briefly appear over its head. You will also find information in our Trait list indicating what interactions will encourage or discourage a particular trait. I will describe each Trait and how it will impact your Pets and Sim. It might not be worth it to you if you wanted a large or extended family living on one lot. Pets take up a slot in your household.If you needed your Sim in good spirits that day, such as if you were planning a wedding, you are out of luck. Pets will randomly run away, making your Sim depressed until the pet returns home.Pets will frequently wake up your Sims, especially when they're new or young.They'll howl to mate and be quite miserable much of the time. Even many pets who are spayed or neutered will go into heat.Most of the strays and may NPC (non-player characters) walk around sick, miserable, and diseased most of the time.Pet medical treatments can be expensive, and sometimes they aren't that effective.Pets get sick a lot, even when you take preventative measures.There is no dog walking or pet sitting service to call if your Sim wants to go on vacation or will be out for a long time.You can only walk one pet at a time, so if you have two or three dogs, you can spend much of your Sim's waking hours just walking them.It takes well over an hour to take a "short walk" or jog with your dog.A lot of pets will cry about having to go pee or poo until you tell them to do it.Even when food bowls are out and full, pets will cry that they are hungry and starve until you direct them to the bowl.Here are some of my biggest issues: Pets Consume Too Much Time Having pets in many of my games is more frustrating than fun. If you don't have your pet fixed, don't be surprised if they come home and are ready to add a few new members to your household! Your Sim will be responsible for caring for the pets in his household and will have to pay for things like food and vet care.
